How It All Began: The Story of Our First Tango Dresses
Share
Many years ago, when I had just started dancing tango and attending milongas, I noticed something striking. Almost everyone was dressed in black. Very few people wore tango clothing, and even fewer created it. Usually, only teachers and advanced dancers would appear in elegant tango outfits, while most people came to milongas in everyday clothes.
I was also a beginner, a new tanguera. I was rarely invited to dance, and, to be honest, I also wore black dresses. Sometimes it felt as if no one even noticed me at the milonga.
At some point, I decided to take a chance and make myself a bright dress. I created one for myself and one for my friend — and suddenly, everything changed. In these colorful dresses, we were invited to dance more often. The colors and cuts worked like magic: we were seen, noticed, and welcomed onto the dance floor.
Soon after, the girls from my tango school asked me, “Where did you get that dress?” I replied: “I made it myself.” That’s when I sewed a small collection for my classmates. Then another collection for other schools. And finally, I presented my very first collection at a milonga.
Step by step, the idea grew into opening my own showroom. It became a place where I had everything: a workshop, a collection of ready-to-wear dresses, and a welcoming space for guests. The atmosphere was unforgettable: fittings, custom orders, the happy smiles of my clients. Deliveries of new fabrics, pattern making, photoshoots… I could spend days and nights there, and I loved every moment of it.
This is how our journey began. From a simple idea — to sew one bright dress for myself — grew a true passion and a business that helps women be seen, shine on the dance floor, and reveal themselves through tango and life.
